Things to know about your frames

  • Most aluminum(will not have rust) frames can be restrapped.
  • There is a large variety of strap colors. (See color chart
  • Make sure there are no broken welds.  If so, for safety reasons it should be discarded.

Most strapping material comes in 3 sizes: 1, 1.5, and 2. inches.  When they are stretched from the frame they thin down abot 1/8 inch in width.  Due to the distance between holds in the frame, whatever size strap is on the frame will have to be replaced on the frame.  Straps are held onto the frames in different ways.  Some have holes with rivets, some have slots with no rivets, some clips, and some are just 1 continuous strap. (basket weave)

Look over all hard plastic parts.  These most often can be replaced as well as give you a basically new chair once restrapped and repainted.

Also, ther should be no rust on your frames.
